Bug diagnosis vs full fix for an AI-built app
Harjot · · updated
A bug diagnosis tells you what is broken and gives you a plain-English plan to fix it. A full fix changes the code, then checks the fix on your live site. For an AI-built app, a diagnosis costs $149 and a fix sprint costs $750 total, with the $149 counted toward it.
This guide covers what each one gives you, what each one costs, and when to pick one. Read the steps that fit your app and skip the rest.
1. What a diagnosis gives you
A diagnosis looks into what is broken and explains it in plain English. You get a video of the bug on your live site, so you can see it happen and show it to anyone who helps you.
You also get a fix plan. It lists the steps you or any developer can follow, with steps to reproduce the bug. You don't need to read code to use it.
During a diagnosis I only look. I don't change your app.
2. What a full fix gives you
A full fix changes the code. The fix sprint covers one broken flow, such as login, saving data, or a live site that breaks. We agree in writing on a test the flow has to pass, and I don't start until that test is agreed.
Anything outside that flow is out of scope unless we agree a new quote. You get the flow fixed and the agreed test passed.
3. Price, time, access and what you get
Price: a diagnosis is $149, paid up front. A fix sprint is $750 total with your $149 counted, so you pay $301 to start and $300 when the agreed test passes.
Time: a diagnosis is delivered within 48h of access. A fix sprint is delivered within 5 business days. The clock starts once payment and access are both in place.
Access: for both, you add me to your tools by invite. I never ask for passwords. A diagnosis gives you the video and the plan. A fix sprint gives you the fixed flow and the passed test.
4. When a diagnosis alone is enough
A diagnosis alone is enough when you or your developer can follow the plan. If every step in it is something you can do, or your developer can do, you don't need a sprint.
Not sure what is broken yet? Run the check at the checks page first, then come back to this guide.
5. When to go straight to a fix
Go straight to a fix when one flow is broken, you know which one, and you want it changed rather than explained. A sprint covers one flow, so pick the flow that matters most.
If your app has more than one broken flow, the sprint covers one of them. The rest needs a new quote.
6. What neither covers
Neither a diagnosis nor a fix sprint covers iOS or Android apps, medical apps, apps that move or hold money, payment bugs, alcohol retail, or new features.
If your app is one of these, I tell you before you pay. If your Lovable app won't load, read Lovable app not working: find the cause, then fix it. If login works locally and fails in production, read Supabase login works locally but fails in production.
Test it like a new user
- Open the live link in a new private window and do the action that breaks.
- Write down the exact step where it stops working.
- If you can name that step, a diagnosis plan may be enough. If you can't, book a diagnosis first.
Common questions
What is the difference between a bug diagnosis and a full fix?
A diagnosis looks into what is broken and gives you a video of the bug plus a plain-English fix plan, without changing your app. A full fix changes the code for one broken flow and ends when a test you agreed in writing passes.
When is a diagnosis enough without a fix?
When you or your developer can follow the plan. It lists the steps to fix the bug and the steps to reproduce it, with no code knowledge needed. If every step is something you or your developer can do, you don't need a fix sprint.
Do I need to share my passwords for a diagnosis or a fix?
No. For both, you add me to your tools by invite, such as GitHub or Supabase, and you can remove me afterwards. During a diagnosis I only look and change nothing. A fix sprint changes code only inside the agreed flow.
Still stuck?
Not sure this is the cause? Paste your app's link into the free scan. It lists what a visitor's browser can see, like leaked keys and exposed files, worst first. The score is free; every fix as a prompt for your builder is $9, one-time.
